چکیده

Aflatoxin effects on duckling growth and rates of changes in liver, bile, and plasma components during 10&y bioassay periods were deternlined with the WIIO/FAO/ ITNICEF-defined 60% peanntmeal diet. Aflatosin at 1.578 pg/g feed (0.948 1.19 B, and 0.630 ,LL~ G, ( depreised growth 78X, reduced feed conversion efficiency 60X, increased liver size 42%, and rednced bile rihoHavin 94%:. The toxin induced reduction in blood plaslna levels for flavin monophosphate 76%, cholesterol 26F, total lipids 794, and lipase 74%. Riboflavin, pantothenol, and Mucor extract anxndnlents with aflatoxin level of 0.988 pg/g feed (0.593 pg B1 and 0.395 pg G,) induced significant changes in afiatoxin effects with the Mucor extract rewlting in near normal llile, plasma, and liver characteristics with minimal hepatic cellular aberrations.

Biotransformation of Aflatoxin B1 and Its Relationship with the Differential Toxicological Response to Aflatoxin in Commercial Poultry Species

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a highly toxic compound (LD50 = 1-50 mg/kg) for most animal species, although it is extremely toxic (LD50 < 1 mg/kg) for some highly susceptible species such as pigs, dogs, cats, rainbow trouts, and ducklings. The toxic effects of AFB1 are both dose and time dependent and two distinct forms of aflatoxicosis, namely acute and chronic, can be distinguished depending on the ...

Effects of Exposure to Aflatoxin G1 on the Plasma Biochemical Factors and Histopathological Properties of Renal Tissue in Mice

Background: Among aflatoxins, the subtype aflatoxin G1 is one of the most toxic, commonly found in cereals, legumes, dairy and non-alcoholic beers. Aflatoxins have been known as nephrotoxic compounds. In this study, changes in the expression of aquaporin-1, the histopathology of renal tissue and plasma biochemical factors after exposure to aflatoxin G1 were investigated in mice. Methods: Twent...

Effects of Aflatoxin-Contaminated Feed on Immunological Parameters of Common Carp (Cyprinus Carpio)

Background: Aflatoxin contamination is a common natural phenomenon that is difficult to avoid or control and it can occur during pre and post-harvest periods under high humidity and temperature conditions, and are potentially dangerous to fish. In the present study, a feeding trial evaluated the effects of diets contaminated with aflatoxin on certain immunological parameters of common carp. Me...

Effects of aflatoxin B1 on growth performance, health indices, phagocytic activity and histopathological alteration in Fenneropenaeus indicus

Mycotoxins contamination of feedstuff for aquatic animals is common in regions with humid tropical conditions. In this study Indian white shrimp, Fenneropenaeus indicus, (11.79 ± 1.76 g) were fed with diets containing 0, 20, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 ppb levels of aflatoxin B1 (AFLB1) for 8 weeks. Final weight, aflatoxin B1 residue (2-week intervals), Total Hemocyte Count (THC), Total Pla...

Structure-Activity Relationships in Toxicity and Carcinogenicity of Aflatoxins and Analogs1

Aflatoxins B! and G,, in single doses, were lethal and had similar relative potencies in the duckling (50% lethal dose, 0.73 mg/kg versus 1.18 mg/kg) and in the rat (50% lethal dose, 1.16 mg/kg versus 2 to 4 mg/kg). Aflatoxins B2 and G2 were less potent in the duckling (50% lethal dose, 1.76 mg/kg versus 2.83 mg/kg) and were nontoxic to rats at doses of 200 mg/kg. Aflatoxin BI induced hepatocel...
